Join the Linkedbyoffshorewind cluster during an economic mission to Latvia where we visit the regional WindWorks 2024 conference, participate in local company visits and join several dedicated networking meetings. During our second cluster mission to the Baltic region, we will hear about offshore wind developments in the three countries with a focus on Latvia.
In two days, we will learn more about the untapped offshore wind potential in Latvia. This potential has been estimated to be 15 GW until 2050 according to a study on Baltic Offshore Wind Energy for the European Commission. Also, we will focus on the ELWIND project, the joint Latvian-Estonian state-run cross-border offshore wind project, which will be tendered in 2026. Recently, Latvia increased the capacity of this project on the Latvian side to 1 GW.
Business opportunities
To stimulate expansion, the country needs to develop the legal framework. Dutch knowledge and projects can serve as an example. Also, the country still needs to solve all challenges on system integration and is lacking an offshore wind supply chain which offers an excellent opportunity to develop business in the country.
