DHSS’s offshore logistics terminal in Port of IJmuiden has been selected as the marshalling, storage and logistics facility, for the 1.5-GW Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone. This logistics hub of DHSS will be used during the commissioning phase for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s wind turbines, which will be installed at this offshore wind farm.

The HKZ wind farm zone will be fitted with 140 units of Siemens Gamesa 11 MW, SG 11.0-200 DD offshore turbines. The load-outs of the turbines from the SIF terminal at Rotterdam Maasvlakte, will be taken care of by Cadeler’s installation vessel Wind Osprey, while the commissioning team of Siemens Gamesa will operate from DHSS ‘s logistics hub in IJmuiden.

The offshore logistics hub of DHSS in Port of IJmuiden is situated directly next door to the new built O&M facility for the  world’s first subsidy-free offshore wind farm, Hollandse Kust Zuid, operated by Vattenfall.

For DHSS, a full service provider of ships agency services, port logistics, helicopter operations and warehouse management, this contract is a result of offshore wind logistics experience, built up since 2016, when Siemens Gamesa delivered its turbines for Gemini wind farm.

“We are grateful for Siemens Gamesa ‘s trust in our company and approach. As of our experience and expertise in a large number of offshore wind projects, our processes are tailor made and very efficient, while keeping quality, health and safety at the highest industry standards”, says Wim Schouwenaar, CEO of DHSS.

Installation and commissioning at the project site is expected to commence in the second half of 2022 and last for twelve months.
