Wind Energy Ireland Tradeshow

From 5 to 8 November, a delegation of 10 Dutch companies and knowledge institutions paid a successful visit to Ireland. The core of the program consisted of participation in the Wind Energy Ireland Trade Show. Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE), the Netherlands Embassy in Dublin and RVO/ICEP have jointly developed the mission program.

HHWE established an excellent NL Lounge at the fair. The NL-lounge drew a lot of attention from the visitors. Including from minister Ryan who was impressed with the lectern made from a retired windmill blade by Irish company BladeBridge (see picture). The lectern was commissioned by the embassy, in the context of the upcoming circular retrodfit of the chancellery.

In addition to the trade fair participation, the Netherlands embassy organised a very successful side-program with visit to the Port of Rosslare, grid operator Eirgrid, and developers Parkwind/ESB.

During the Trade Show, Minister Ryan announched a second offshore wind auction to take place next year. This news follows the announcement the week before that an auction for the Town Nua site off the coast of Waterford will take place in early 2025. This message shows that Ireland is committed to offshore wind and is determined to accelerate.
